Thought I tore my pec last saturday while benching. It was scary. My training has been going really well and now an injury. Saw the specialist on Tues. and thank heavens it is not torn. Severe strain of the lig./tendons that connect the pec minor and the bicep brachii together. Physical therapy for 3 weeks and limitied weight training. It is driving me nuts! cant wait to get back in the gym..

Damn huge, how the heck did that happen? At least it wasn't a full tear and you don't have to take off too much time. Do you have to be careful on how you lift when you recover as well?

It was a wierd thing... I was benching like normal, Did two warmups with 135, then 10 at 225 and started my sets of 8 at 275. first set went good, then second set, i hit the 4th rep and it felt like a hot needle went through my left pec into my shoulder. The workout was over from there. I can start with light weights tomorrow and have to work up slow with all chest and shoulder movements. the therapy is helping and have full range of motion now. Doc said to take it easy and start slow and low weight. he feels that I will be back up using heavy weight in about two months or so..

What is the follow-up? Are you back to normal with your chest workouts?

Just complete my 1st week back in the gym. So far so good. I feel real week and like I am starting all over again but so far, no pain. Going to work it light for a bit then increase the weight in a couple weeks. Thanks for asking...

I'm glad that it wasn't torn, bad enough as it is though. I'm sure that the physical therapy and gradual return to MASSIVE WEIGHTS will do the trick.

Hang in there!

Thanks Lift... Week two is going pretty well. I have my last week of therapy and the doc says i can start going heavier but not to push it too hard. I told him that training hard and heavy "its like a sickness, missing the workout or not being able to hit it hard, makes it tough. A bad workout is better than none" He understood that it becomes a lifestyle but reassured, that i need to take it slow so I dont do any perminate damage.. and that I will come back with no problems.
