I've had tinnitus (constant ringing in the ears) for about 15 years. It usually doesn't bother me much unless I'm in a quiet room, so I try to keep some kind of background noise going to drown out the high pitch ringing that is constantly in my head.

I'm curious if anyone else on the board has this and if so, how do you deal with it?

My husband does and so does my mother. Davids problem is that he also has problems hearing with a ton of background noise... so his solution... ignore people. Sounds bad... but thats exactly what he does... he blocks everything out and sometimes I have to explain to others why he acts that way...
Today, just like yesterday, and like tomorrow. I will make the most of my workout. I will be intense. I will be committed. I will be focused. Today, just like yesterday and like tomorrow. I will push my body to the limit. I will embrace the hurt. I will embrace the pain. Today, just like yesterday, and like tomorrow. I will lift heavier. I will get bigger. I will get stronger.

I played in a lot of rock bands during my high school, college, and post college years, and I'll still get ringing in my ears.

I guess you just have to live with it???

There is a technique that "theoritically" can stop the condition,,, however its a bit drastic.

The technique is to sound generator to the exact frequency that a person with tinnitus hears,,,, and then turn up the volume so loud that it kills the cells in the inner ear that respond to that frequency.

I had Miniere's disease about 15 years ago which resulted in frequent dizzy spells and disorientation for about 2 years. The condition eventually cleared however the tinnitus is mine for life,,,,, unless I can find a natural treatment.

Many people have this to a much higher degree than I and its is only a nuisance when I'm in a quiet area.

I believe my mother-in-law suffers from this, but I'm not sure what she is doing about it.

I did find this... I am a fan of acupuncture:

I have this and recently cured it with standing in front of the PA at the Reading festival while Metallica played!!! Now it's a constant problem. Happy days, it's time I grew-up!
