Interview:
Have you always been in shape? Yes, I have always been involved in sporting activities. I grow up playing soccer. I also boxed, ran track and played high school basket ball/volley ball even though I was one of the shortest on the team.
How did you get started in physique competitions? A lot of people at the gym I used to workout at approached me and said I had a good physique for bodybuilding, but I never took considered it till my best friend Joshua Davis who also competes approached me with. I decided to just give it a try, so I competed for Mr. Natural Missouri and won the overall, then won my IFPA Pro-card 3 weeks after that, and I have been hooked since then.
Describe your training philosophy: If you're going to do it, do it right.
What are your favorite exercises? I train every muscle group as hard as I can because I want to have the total package, therefore I enjoy every single exercise.
What is your diet like in the off season? I stick to my competition diet for the most part, but include more carbs in every meal. I eat cheat meal every no and again.
Describe your diet during contest prep: strictly high protein, moderate carbs, and low fat.
What supplements have worked for you? I depend mostly on regular meals because I don't know any supplements that I can say provides me with more than what I get out of eating the right meals.
What advice would you give to aspiring athletes? Not doing more than average is what keeps the average down, so if you're going to do it, do it right.
What have you learned about yourself as a physique competitor? I've learned that there's always room for improvement, and I take that same energy in the real world and try to be better at everything I do.
What are your plans for the future? I recently won the IFPA Men's Pro Bowl in New York on April 10, 2010, and I plan to compete in Minnesota, May 22, 2010, then start the preparation for the Yorton Cup World Championship in D.C in October.
