"Nobody can do it for you and you have to want it to make the progress in the gym" Gary Sewell |

DOB June 2, 1967 I am 5'11 and 175lbs How I got into bodybuilding I started working out in January 2006 weighing 252 lbs and 33% bf with very little change until I met Kevin and Denise James. Kevin and Denise gave me the best advice that changed me forever. The advice was if your nutrition isn't there you're wasting your time in the gym, and ever since I have changed my diet. After that the weight and bf started dropping. In November 2006 I started working with a personal trainer at Gold's Gym in Arlington, Washington. |
After two months of working with my personal trainer there was a transformation contest at the gym. I entered the contest weighing 212 lbs and 15.1% bf and at the end of the 12 weeks I was at 192 lbs and 10% bf. Around the time I was finishing the body transformation contest Kevin and Denise hinted about getting me on stage at the 2007 Washington State natural bodybuilding and fitness championship for the INBF. The day of the competition I weighed 169 lbs and 5% bf. At the age of 40 I competed in my first bodybuilding show, loved it and am now planning on doing at least two shows next year for the INBF. |

My training philosophy Train like you mean it and you want it because you only get out of working out and lifting weights what you put into it. Nobody can do it for you and you have to want it to make the progress in the gym. My diet consists of a good balance of carbs, protein and fats. The types of foods I eat are chicken and turkey for my protein. Then for my carbs I will eat strawberries, grapefruit and cantaloupe. The vegetables I usually eat are broccoli, asparagus, and green beans. Then for my fats I will eat almonds, and almond butter. My role models are two really good friends of mine that had the biggest influence of my actually getting up the nerve to get on stage and compete in my first bodybuilding competition and they are Kevin and Denise (INBF promoters). Some of the best advice I could give to somebody who wants to get into weight lifting and/or bodybuilding is make sure you have a good nutritional plan and work the muscle not the weight. myspace.com/sewellgo |
