Meet Lift for Life.com Figure Model of the Month, Carrie Pullaro. Carrie is an inspirational athlete who has seen both sides of the fitness spectrum and who knows that its never too late to change direction. Carrie had been athletic most of her life playing several sports throughout high school with an emphasis on volleyball. After graduating from a local community where she attended on a sports scholarship, it happened. slowly, methodically, just as it happens to so many others, the decline which is not inevitable. Carrie explains that after college, she felt that she "was no longer required to stay in shape".

"I found myself grabbing the “quickest” thing to eat.  I slowly began to add on weight."

Carrie Pullaro, before and after

"I woke up one day with a desire to make a change because I was so miserable with my appearance."

Carrie decided that enough was enough. She was determined to be a role model instead of a statistic. It began with the little changes that can make a BIG difference.

"I changed my diet by cutting out simple items such as soda, junk food, and fried foods."

After an initial loss of 20 lbs, a frustrating plateau sat in, and Carrie's progress came to a standstill. As a former athlete, Carrie knew that while a healthy diet alone could yield dramatic results, going the extra mile was going to take work. She resolved to contact a personal trainer named Karen Joseph. Karen fine tuned Carrie's diet and created a workout for her that included weight training and cardio exercise. Karen also suggested that because of Carrie's athletic background, she should consider entering a Figure Competition.

Sometimes we don't just fail to meet a goal, we fail to even establish a goal. Expect something of yourself!

Carrie was up to the challenge, placing third in the 2001 Coast to Coast Figure Championships. This began a series of competitions, leading to the prestigious "Ms. Galaxy" International Figure Competition in 2003.

The pursuit of fitness has not just changed Carrie's attitude and appearance, it has changed her life. She changed her major to Wellness Leadership and is now a personal trainer.
